CONTINUOUS SCROLL COMES TO DESKTOP

Google has officially announced that continuous scrolling is coming to desktop after mobile search. This means that the search results page will not be paginated. More results are automatically loaded as you scroll down. It is currently officially live in the US and searches in English. It is only a matter of time before it will be launched in other countries and languages as well.

What does this mean for Google Ads? Most metrics should not be affected. However, it is more than likely that the ads will have more impressions and lower CTR due to continuous scroll, which can distort the performance in some ways.

E-A-T HAS GOT A BIG UPDATE

A major update to the Search Quality Rating Guidelines has arrived. In addition to the 3 main points (expertise, authoritativeness and trust), experience joins the party. So now we have E-E-A-T.

Experience adds another level of quality to search results. Some types of content require the author to be someone who has real-life experience in the field, e.g., product reviews.

However, trust still remains the most important factor.

For a better explanation, we recommend the official document, specifically section 3.4.

GOOGLE IS TESTING A NEW LAYOUT IN SEARCH

Several users have noticed a new desktop search interface that Google is testing again. The company is known for such experiments.
They are currently testing a wider and larger layout, which makes some search elements stand out, such as sitelinks. However, this moves other pages a little lower in the SERP, which can affect organic traffic.
